Last week I watched "Cafe Sospeso", which I strongly recommend. It´s hard to say what is my favorite movie. I think it´s the same crazy question as "What is your favorite book?" So, except if the movie is not a piece of shit, I used to say: “The better is the last one”.
The right question might be which movie could you watch again. It is an old one called Dead Poets Society. Ah, Forrest Gump and Castaway. Do you want to know the meaning of “sospeso” and how it works? It's quite simple, just prepaid a coffee and the cafeteria will choose who will get it. For free. Some places just put the receipt inside a box, others just put it in a kind of list.
It is not common here in Brazil.
Additionally, I've never seen it before in all my life like a hard coffee drinker. First, pay attention: you must believe, with no doubts, that “your” coffee will be given for free. It´s impossible to check if the cafeteria will keep the promise. So, no confidence, no "cafe sospeso". One step further, you must believe in a store sense of judgment. If the rich guy forgot his wallet, is it ok? If the beggar asks them, is it ok?
So, just pay and forget it. Just go.
Just keep walking because if you prepaid for a coffee and became obsessively concerned, you gave yourself a problem, not a “cafe sospeso”. I used to make my coffee with my little Italian coffee machine. Marilia Medonça passed away two days ago in a small plane crash. My condolences to all the victims’ relatives. There were five crew members. It´s a huge tragedy. I am listening to her songs right now. One night, some time ago, I was randomly listening to Spotify and played a beautiful song. I was listening to Marília Mendonça for the first time. She had her life suspended, but she won´t die completely. Her legacy is huge.
Yesterday I saw her interviews and shows, and I founded lovely songs unknow to me. Janis Joplin, Jim Morrisson and Kurt Cobain all dead at 27 years old. Marília Mendonça at 26 years old. Yes, it was a tragic plane crash but even so too early. Singers and composers like them don´t die, they just had their lives suspended. The “Queen of Sorrow”, her songs are beautiful; her voice is soft and intense.
“Which is my favorite Marlília song´s?” That´s what I am listening to right now: “Forget me if you can”.
